ZTE Common Edge Wins the Innovation Award at the 2019 GNTC

Time:2019-10-24

23 Oct., 2019, Shenzhen, China - ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for Mobile Internet, today announced that ZTE's Common Edge solution recently won the "Innovation" award at the 2019 GNTC. This is another award for this solution after winning the 5G Excellence award at the SDN NFV World Conference in Netherlands, fully demonstrating ZTE's innovation and leadership in the MEC field.

ZTE's Common Edge solution breaks the traditional closed telecom network architecture and exposes the edge network infrastructure and hardware acceleration capability, edge network traffic distribution capability and wireless network perception capability to third party applications. As both the computing platform and the multi-access network capability platform, ZTE’s Common Edge integrates mobile access network with the Internet.

Full-scene acceleration hardware: Embedded hardware in the site equipment room, such as IT BBU V9200 and TITAN C600, is to implement zero-site and close-to-user deployment. E5410/E5430 short chassis server in the edge equipment room is easy to maintain with front wiring design, which is compatible with mainstream acceleration hardware (GPU / FPGA / SmartNIC).

Fully-integrated edge cloud: Embedded MEC, edge MEC and central cloud are deployed on the same base in a distribution mode. The dual-core (OpenStack+K8S) driving function provides efficient, flexible and flowing computing power. The open hardware acceleration resource pool is exposed to third party APPs through the unified API. Unified management and unattended O&M are implemented to Edge DCs.

Full capability exposure platform: Edge computing power and acceleration capability exposure help to accelerate ICT integration. The wireless network capability exposure (RNIS, bandwidth management, and wireless indoor positioning) provides imaginary space for edge service innovation. The micro-service architecture is designed to flexibly introduce new capabilities and continuously enrich and improve MEC capability layers.

ZTE’s Common Edge solution has been widely used in such fields as industrial manufacturing, smart grid, Internet of Vehicles, entertainment & media, public safety, education, health, finance and agriculture. It focuses on "1+4" industrial applications, which includes wireless network capability exposure, big video, Internet of Vehicles, intelligent manufacturing and electric power. So far, with this solution, ZTE has carried out wide cooperation and pilots with more than 100 strategic partners and more than 200 industrial users to accelerate the penetration of 5G into all walks of life.
